Changing Communities

One life at a time.

Restoring Furniture & Lives

Our shop and workspace are more than just a meeting place. We want to build community, fighting loneliness and social isolation.

Building Community

We provide volunteer placements for local people who want to build their work skills and self-confidence, as part of the journey to getting a job.

Bringing Hope

Everyone is welcome! Pop in and see our great range of furniture and furnishings, or get involved as a volunteer – we’re sure to have something for you.

We have a store located at 62 – 64 Peckers Hill Road, Sutton, St Helens, WA9 3JQ with a showroom and workshop – why not pop down and see us? We’re open 10:00 – 3:30pm on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday & Friday!

What Else Do We Do?

We Restore & Provide Low Cost Furniture

We restore donated furniture and sell it on at low cost to help people on low incomes.

We Upcycle Furniture & Develop Skills

Our volunteers learn how to create fashionable, amazing new pieces from furniture that may be past its prime, developing an invaluable set of skills or building their confidence to help them in the workplace.

We Design and Create Bespoke Commissioned Items

We help people's ideas come to life! Can't find what you'd like in our shop, why not speak to us about creating a bespoke piece?

About Changing Communities

Born out of a desire to harness the business ideas of the community to benefit the community, Changing Communities is a social enterprise. We aim to do what our vision says – to positively help change communities and improve people’s lives.

That’s why we are a social enterprise – we put people first and all our projects have a social purpose. Our profits support The Hope Centre, our charity partner. Through over a decade working with people in St Helens, The Hope Centre has seen, experienced and supported the needs of local people and communities and continues to do so. Changing Communities is the next step in helping people and communities to make new life choices.

Working in partnership with local organisations, we will positively support people and communities to help them develop their sense of belonging, increase local involvement and help them have the confidence to make new life choices.

Changing Communities is not an ending, but a stepping stone on a person’s journey. We help them move on in their journey, one life and one step at a time.
